Independence Day 2011
Dear Founding Fathers:
Please accept my deepest heartfelt apology for the state you see the union in today. Many of you went to your graves penniless and without fame or recognition for the dream you so valiantly fought for. As you look upon the United States today you must be not only in awe but also dismayed!
How could you have known this country would go from 13 states to 50. Survive a civil war, two world wars and numerous other conflicts which jeopardized its liberty throughout the years. As you all sat by candle light and lanterns to draft probably one of the most important pieces of literature ever set to paper (The declaration of Independence) how could you have known the country of your vision would be where it is today!
A congress and senate more concerned about their own financial well being than that of the country. Sacred truths so vividly described in the constitution and bill of rights slowly being eroded or all together forgotten. Separation of church and state only to be trampled on by those whom deem one religion more righteous than another, a pledge of allegiance which some would like to change the wording to exclude ONE NATION UNDER GOD. The red, white and blue, being burned, worn as pants, painted on bodies instead of held in the dignity it so deserves!
How could you imagine statesmanship which became a lifetime of politicking versus doing the people’s business and a then going back to your trade? Your dreams of freedom being erode by petty arguments of who is American and who is not. Yes, I apologize not only to you but to everyone who has served in the military of this great country, those who serve now those who served in the past and especially those who gave the ultimate service their lives, I am sorry!!
My heart is saddened by the sickening display our politicians have shown the last few years. I sit with heavy disbelief as a country known for its can do attitude now is known more for what can I get from the government attitude. A country divided not by race as much as divided by those whom who want versus those who do!!
We are coming up once again on our birthday celebration. There will be parades, fireworks and celebrations everywhere yet I am saddened by the fact we have forgotten those simple words which set this country apart from all others We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Saddened yet still hopeful for all the bloodshed in every war and conflict fought for these simple truths that they will once again ring holy and righteous. I am embarrassed as an American to see our government doing what they have done of late. Where is our Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington………Today!!!!
Please accept my apology for this sad state of affairs. I still stand tall and salute when my flag passes by. I remember those who have given their lives for me to be free. I will not forget those simple truths which made us the greatest country in the world. We can do it again!!! We will do it again!!!
I charge this task to everyone this Fourth of July: We hold these truth to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are LIFE, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of HAPPINESS!!!
I AM AN AMERICAN, I stand tall even though my country’s greatness is tarnished she will shine again. The torch of liberty will not die on my watch!! Happy birthday America and God bless you! May you have many more!!!!!
